First version

Second version

YouTube

Contemporary worship-pop ballad with slow 72 BPM pulse, spacious half-time drums and a pronounced kick entrance on the first chorus; intro and verse 1 stay atmospheric with suspended cymbal rolls, triangle, piano, and soft pads, Verse 2 adds lighter full drums, pre-chorus lifts with stacked harmonies, choruses open wider with bold kick and tom support, Lead vocal is intimate and close-mic, then widened with doubles and airy harmonies on hooks, Ear candy: reverse swell into the first chorus, sparkling triangle taps, and a featured drum solo before the final lift, Wide, warm, cinematic mix with glossy low end, harmony, slow.

I like the song with the feeling of “All Nations Music – Yahweh” but nothing religious. I want the song to be about love, life, family, and friends. All positive words of encouragement, peace, happiness that love brings.

The kick drum should be pronounced when the drums come in.

First, bring in a nice and slow intro, a poem of sorts.

First verse, about life and friends. No drums with maybe a roll on the suspended cymbals and some triangle.

Chorus to bring in the drums.

Second verse, about love and family. With full drums, but lighter as the verse comes in.

Chorus, drums get louder.

Break.

A nice drum solo.

Ending in full harmony of drums and instruments to exploit love, life, family, and friends.

Lyrics

[Intro]

Morning slips through the blinds

and falls on our hands

Coffee on the table

smiles in the doorway

The day can be heavy

but we learn how to bend

We carry each other

like we mean to stay

[Verse 1]

We were born for the road

and the roads bring friends

In the backseat laughter

and a map in the wind

When the world gets loud

you can lean on me

We keep our hearts open

and we let them breathe

[Chorus]

Open hands, open home

We rise, we rise

Peace in the room

and light in your eyes

Open hands, open home

Stay close, stay close

Love in the middle

is what we know

[Verse 2]

I see your mother’s laugh

in the shape of your face

I see your father’s strength

in the way you stand brave

When the table is full

we remember why

Every name, every hug

every good thing alive

[Chorus]

Open hands, open home

We rise, we rise

Peace in the room

and light in your eyes

Open hands, open home

Stay close, stay close

Love in the middle

is what we know

[Break] [Drum Solo] [Bridge]

If the days run thin

we make room for more

If the night feels long

we keep the door

For the ones who stayed

and the ones who came

We say your name

and we do it again

[Final Chorus]

Open hands, open home

We rise, we rise

Peace in the room

and light in your eyes

Open hands, open home

Stay close, stay close

Love in the middle

is what we know

Open hands, open home

We sing, we sing

Family and friends

are the best thing

Open hands, open home

Stay near, stay near

Life is a blessing

when you’re here
